Innocence

I have lived a life of consuming the innocence of others. I don't know why. Maybe it is because I never was allowed any. Too early to know about sex, too early to know about madness and insecurity. Maybe I have looked for it in others to try to see what was like to have it.

It is funny that it is innocence that finally broke my heart of stone.

When I am with God is the only time I feel truly innocent.

Shine

I really like newsboys song "Shine".

Fasting

Fasting and endurance running are similar experiences. They require you to forget discomfort and move on. They are activities you know you can't do indefinitely. They cloud your head so that it is difficult to focus or maybe easier to obsess?

The Kingdom Come

Today a beggar was walking past my sidewalk while I was outside cutting some mint for a mint-lemonade. He approached me, and said "Excuse me." I was preparing myself to say "I can't help you, sorry." and it must have come across in my voice as I said, "How can I help you?" He said "Hey man I am dying of thirst and I am hungry. Can you make me a sandwich and give me a glass of water?" I was getting ready to say "I can't help you, sorry." Then I remembered I had a whole pound of turkey and some fresh made bacon for turkey clubs just inside the door.

Tongues

I wish I could speak in tongues. Not the kind practiced in charismatic churches but the kind in the bible. Where in acts people of all languages can understand exactly what God is saying.

Geneology

Have you ever noticed that people begin to write family histories, or do geneologies when they are facing the fact of their own mortality?

Dreams and Nightmares

I am sorry if you still are haunted by nightmares.
I assure you, it is far worse to still be visited by dreams.

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I think that evolution has conspired to play a trick on our minds. The past is slowly scrubbed clean, made more bearable, put into a context where it makes sense.

The only paradises are those lost.

Is all Forgiven?

History and Ethical Development

When given the span of history, it is difficult to see any real consistent trends. Certain threads appear but then are cut off. Others patterns seem to be a collective spell from which we slowly awake. Is there any truth that transcends all era's?
